About Store Teardown

Store Teardown is a free tool for merchants, agencies and curious shoppers. It shows which Shopify theme and apps a store uses and runs a set of practical checks on the homepage.

How the data is collected

When someone looks up a store, or when a store is added to our index, our crawler StoreTeardownBot requests the public homepage, /robots.txt and the public /products.json feed. That is three requests per store, and each store is re-checked at most every two weeks. We never log in, add to cart or load checkout.

Opting out

Store owners can block the crawler by adding this to their robots.txt. Once blocked, the store is no longer re-checked and is removed from the index on the next refresh.
